Greetings from Carole Taylor ... your Weekly Update ~ July 8

The Goal ~ Connect ~ Don't Sell

Connecting is about building relationships... NOT a sales pitch.

Before anything else, it's important to establish a basic rapport and initial trust so that you can have a genuine conversation.

Connecting ~ Essential Habits

Smile ~ It may seem obvious, but smiling is the single most important thing you can do to make people like you.

Always smile ~ Even on the phone and on social media ~ it really does make a difference in how you feel, sound and interact with others.

Eye contact ~ Keep light eye contact while speaking and listening. Light eye contact ~ don't stare or constantly look off at something or someone else.

Speak clearly ~ Enunciate and make sure you are heard and understood.

Listen to the other person ~ Be interested in what they have to say and involved in the conversation. Don't interrupt or speak over them!

Be Genuine

People are naturally wary of strangers ~ we all have 'radar' for spotting fakes!

Don't be pushy, overanxious, too personal or jump right into sales mode ~ Don't set off that radar!

We can ignite interest by being genuinely interested in them.

Ask questions and LISTEN to the answers

A natural conversation is always 2-way. Start with a question ~ get them involved from the start. Focus on them ~ share just enough about yourself to encourage the other party to share about themselves.

Be positive and natural ~ Don't try to force the conversation to fit a hidden agenda.

Listen for Needs, Goals, Unfulfilled desires ~  Problems you can help with.

Focus on your purpose - helping other people solve their problems.

They Have a Problem...

Weight Loss, Health/Energy Issues, Athletic Performance,  Healthy Aging, Work difficulties, Extra Income,  More Free Time for kids or leisure...

Once you have identified a problem you can help solve,

  • Do they know they have the problem?
  • Do they WANT a solution?

After you have built a foundation of rapport and trust, approach problems with the firm idea and attitude that you want to help.

Ask THE Question ~ Do they want to do something about their problem? Are they open to a solution?

Always present your solution in a sensitive, caring way.

The #1 question to answer ~ Do they have a problem you can help with... AND #2 ~ Do they want a solution?
