Greetings from Carole Taylor ... your Weekly Update ~ August 14

Some can’t start their day without a morning cup of coffee, while others prefer to avoid caffeine altogether.

The decision to consume caffeine is a personal choice, but whatever your preference, it’s a good idea to know how caffeine works in the body and why it may actually be beneficial for you.

Caffeine Blocks Adenosine

On a molecular level, caffeine works because it’s similar to the natural neurotransmitter adenosine.

Throughout the day, or when you’re lacking rest, adenosine builds up near certain receptors in the brain and signals the brain to slow down nerve activity, causing feelings of drowsiness and tiredness.

Consuming caffeine blocks adenosine receptors in the brain ~ speeding up nerve cells, waking you up and improving focus.

Moderate Caffeine Intake

For most of us, caffeine is a normal part of life. Estimates are that over 80 percent of people in the United States enjoy a caffeinated beverage each day, and those numbers are increasing.

Individual sensitivity to caffeine varies, but 400 to 500 milligrams of caffeine spread evenly across day, or the equivalent of three to five cups of coffee is considered moderate and compatible with a healthful diet.

When used responsibly and in moderate amounts, caffeine is a safe and natural way to increase wakefulness, alleviate fatigue, and improve concentration and focus.

Caffeine and Adaptogens

Adaptogens help the body “adapt” (hence the name) to better resist the effects of stress. These can range from physical stressors like athletic activity to mental stressors like writing.

Recent studies have found that adaptogens reduce mental fatigue, improve physical endurance, and can aid recovery after intense physical activity.

The combination of adaptogens and a moderate dose of caffeine delivers a steady rise of energy and improved focus. These two ingredients work together so you can benefit from the unique energizing effects of each.

Adaptogens are conveniently paired with naturally sourced caffeine in e+, BĒA Sparkling Energy Drink, Nootropic Elixir, and Energy Bites.

Caffeine and Nitrates

AMPED Nitro provides 1500 mg of Nitrosigine per serving ~ boosting nitric oxide levels and blood flow to active muscle ~ as well as 100 mg of caffeine.

Numerous research studies support the use of caffeine and nitrate supplements for runners, cyclists, and endurance athletes of all kinds.

The collective research supports the idea that both caffeine and nitrate supplementation together may be the extra boost needed by endurance athletes. They work together in different ways to support cardiovascular fitness and improve endurance and performance outcomes.
